In 2010, Japan is hosting the tenth Conference of the Parties on Biodiversity. The setting for the COP 10 is Nagoya, Japan's fourth largest city with over 2 million inhabitants. Nagoya is the capital of the Aichi prefecture, comparable to a Belgian province.

The Congress Center is located in the heart of Nagoya and will be uniting over 10,000 delegates from all over the world. Built in the shape of a rising swan, the Center consists of four main buildings, over 20 conference rooms and several large halls, the largest accomodating up to 3000 people.
